In conjunction with the release of the yarns, we’re also releasing  a new pattern, the Arctic Circle Cowl. Designed using two skeins of glacier by Antonia Shankland, the cowl features a simple-yet-interesting slipped stitch pattern and lovely garter stitch edges for balance.

The Cowl is part of a larger collection we photographed about three weeks ago, to be released over the coming months. Look forward to a wide selection of garments and accessories featuring the lineup of Fibre Company yarns, as well as a mini-collection of accessories in Tundra.

Originally published in Organik, for the children’s version of the Rocky Coast Cardigan, Hannah decided to use Canopy Fingering in Orchid, a beautiful creamy white.

Like the original, the cardigan is knit from the top down at a slightly looser gauge than recommended on the label, features a beautiful six stitch cable, deep ribbing, wide collar and optional tie closure. Kate has already started a wee version for baby Charlie in guava, and has been knitting it all weekend at every opportunity - that is, every opportunity having a 10 week old allows her!

Specifications:
• Yarn: Canopy Fingering in orchid: 2 (2, 3, 3, 3)[4, 5, 5, 6, 6) skeins.

The Mini Water’s Edge is a really lovely version of the Water’s Edge cardigan by Hannah. The kid’s version, knit out of Canopy Worsted, features elbow length sleeves, a flared bottom and beautiful pleat detailing.

The kid’s version comes with directions for a button closure, an added bonus for managing the outfits of little ones!

The hat is designed with just a bit of slouch, and the use of garter stitch creates a warm and soft accessory with a lot of texture. The mittens feature a gored thumb and the garter stitch provides extra thickness and warmth for cold fingers. Designed to be easy enough for newer knitters, but interesting enough for those with more experience, the Warbler Hat + Mittens is the perfect set to knit now in preparation for the coming winter months!

Melanie2’s Norie Hat made out of the gorgeous Acadia in Summersweet is a perfect version of this beautiful design. The combination of lace and garter in the hat lends itself to the subtle tweed specs featured in the Acadia, and the slouch is both stylish and warm.

Designed using two colors of Acadia, granite + kelp, the Flying Geese mittens are the perfect project to knit during the warmer spring and summer months in preparation for mitten season.

NENA is the New England Needlework Association’s annual trade show in Sturbridge, Mass. A regional trade show, NENA gives us the opportunity to connect more personally with the shop owners and employees in the New England region. It is also special because it is a cash-and-carry show, meaning we can create specialty products and kits to sell directly from the show.

We paired up with Hannah Fettig again this year, and had a collection of her patterns for sale as well as copies of Coastal Knits and kits for Schoodic and the Sycamore Vest. And as an added bonus, we were even able to debut our new yarn for fall before we announced it to the general public!

We had an amazing time at NENA this year and hope to see you all again - and those of you who didn’t make it this time! - next year!

You may recognize these three color from Road to China Light - we added them to that line this fall, and due to their popularity, we thought they deserved to be featured in Road to China as well.

Moonstone

A smokey mid-tone brown with hints of plum and grey, Moonstone is a sophisticated neutral designed to go with anything.

Abalone

A showstopper of a color, Abalone starts with a base of dark green, and is layered with a deep brown and grey for a rich, saturated and complex duotone. We have this color in a few other iterations in some of the other lines, and despite the slight differences the twist, ply and fiber content produces in each yarn, every shade is always gorgeous.

Apatite

Not quite green, not quite blue, Apatite is a perfect saturated peacock with hints of light and dark tones.  It looks great with neutrals such as Smoky Quartz, Hematite + Grey Pearl, but also would make an amazing striped or color work project with Citrine or Peridot.

Savannah is probably the most unique yarn in the Fibre Company line, as it is spun and dyed in the United States (less than 75 miles from us!) and is currently the only yarn we offer that does not have alpaca in it. Due to its unique blend of fibers: wool, cotton, linen and soya, Savannah is a great year-round yarn, so the original palette reflected a more spring and summery colors. We can’t stay away from the rich, saturated duotones we’re known for in our other lines, though, so of course we had to add some more of these colors to the Savannah line as well.

Crepe Myrtle

Crepe Myrtle is a gorgeous rich deep cherry red with flecks of brighter pink in the cotton slubs that create the unique tweedy nature of the yarns.

Cabernet

Cabernet is a signature Fibre Company color - not quite purple, not quite grey, not quite brown, it is rich, complex and really beautiful. The main plies of the yarn are a deep smokey color, and the flecks pop with a rich aubergine.

Woodsmoke

Woodsmoke is a purple-grey with pink flecks, another one of our signature colors that isn’t a neutral but isn’t a definitive color either. Kate has been knitting a new design with it for the last few weeks, and is honestly impressed with its beauty every time she picks the project up.
